Free Entry to Wales's Heritage for St Davids Day.
Cadw, the Welsh Assembly Government's historic environment service, is marking St Davids Day by offering free admission to all its directly managed monuments in Wales on Tuesday 1st March.
These include the magnificent Bishop's Palace at St Davids, Britain's smallest city; one of the world's greatest medieval castles, Caernarfon Castle; the best preserved medieval abbey in Wales, Tintern Abbey, and dramatic Harlech Castle on its cliff-top location. Access to Caerleon Roman Fortress Baths and Blaenafon Ironworks continues to be free to ALL throughout the year.
Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones, said: "I am delighted to continue the St Davids Day free entry initiative. Over the last three years Cadw has welcomed close to 9,000 visitors to its sites on this important day in the nation's calendar.
"Visiting one of Cadw's sites will give a fascinating insight into a piece of our past, and what better way to celebrate St Davids Day? We hope many more people will take this opportunity to visit a site in Cadw's care and appreciate for themselves the magnificence of Wales' historic environment."
